When you think of actress Jennifer Garner you probably don’t think of Charleston, West Virginia— but that’s where she spent much of her childhood before graduating from George Washington High School. I was in Charleston shooting a project today and learned that as a teenager Garner worked at a men’s clothing store called Kelley’s Men’s Shop which is still in Charleston.
But, as she told Jay Leno, there is a reason her career in clothing was short lived:
“We were sitting in church and (my mom) said, ‘Oh, Jennifer. Oh, look over there. Bless his heart, Mr. Mallory. Who dressed him?’ And I looked, and he was wearing a plaid shirt and a – and a striped tie and the colors matched and I said, “Well, I did. I sold him that stuff.” She said, ‘Oh, honey, we gotta find you another line of work. I mean, this is bad.’”
Garner eventually did find a new line of work. And once again proves that talent comes from everywhere.
