Absolutely fascinating look at my home state (Wisconsin) and my late father's home state (Iowa). Just fyi, Happy Days was actually set in Milwaukee, not Kenosha, and a bronze statue of the "Fonz" is about to be erected in downtown Milwaukee. But Daniel J. Travanti is from Kenosha.

And let's not forget Halle Berry, who was often seen here when married to Eric Benet. Or John Belushi who attended UW-Whitewater, or Chris Farley who attended Marquette U.

My mother grew up next door to Liberace, who actually used to carry her books to school! All while wearing a hair net.

Thanks so much for your awesome research and insights. It was a delight to read!

Hello Natalie,

Thanks for the additions.

If we throw in well known actors in the mix the list really gets long. Arnold Schwarzenegger graduated from UW Superior and Harrison Ford attended Ripon College. Other actors with Wisconsin connections include Don Ameche, Willem Defoe, Tyne Daly, Joan Cusack, Heather Graham, Tom Hulce, Bonnie Hunt, Fred MacMurray, Jackie Mason, Agnus Moorehead, Gena Rowlands, Campbell Scott, Peter Weller and from the Dukes of Hazard,Tim Wopat.

And though not actors but performers nonetheless and giants in their fields and with Wisconsin connections: Liberace, Harry Houdini, Edwin Newman, Boz Scaggs, Steve Miller, and the Ringling Brothers.

So watch "Double Indemnity" and listen to "Silk Degrees" and thank Wisconsin for sharing its gifts with the world.

This facinated me. Since I am from Wisconsin, I love just knowing that for a short moment in time that we will be mildly important in the world of film and such. Oh, and just an added note... The 70's Show took place in Wisconsin. And Spencer Tracy, a truly great actor, was able to call Milwaukee his home.

Anyways, loved the entry.
